The Appalachian Citizens’ Law Center (ACLC) and the Concerned Citizens of Estill County (CCEC) are making public a trove of state documents that was received through a series of open records requests to the state governments of Kentucky and West Virginia.
These records contain data pertaining to the investigation of an illegal shipment of over 2,000 tons of radioactive frack waste to Kentucky in 2015 and 2016. The material also contains email correspondence among officials in the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet, the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, and the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
The documents are divided into three sections, and include a report from an official at the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet regarding radioactive particulate deposition.
